Fall finally begins

Today we began the day atop four-wheeled scooters in PE. In Foreign Language we learned about masculine and feminine adjectives. We are currently reading the afterward in the amazing novel Lost on a Mountain in Maine. The main character, Donn, was finally discover and the search party was shocked that he survived. In Math we learned about elapsed time and algebraic expressions. We each received our own list of exciting words for Word Study. Each night we have harsh, but necessary, homework. Today we are discussing the theories about the Lost Colony. Our brilliant ideas are quite varied. Were they attacked by the Spanish? Native Americans? or absorbed into the Native tribes, such as the Lumbee? Could it have been foul weather? We will hopefully find out soon.

Finding the Lost Colony

Today was an interesting day. We began by creating a goal for the day. Some choose behavior, some academic, some social. We rotated into our reading groups and made a significant dent on our novels. In math, we used clocks in order to calculate elapsed time. We also created benchmarks for time-sec.min. and hour. After lunch we had our 4th Wordly Wise test, which seemed to go fairly well. In Mrs. Bushman's Science class we created a cloud in a jar, learned about water cycle, and created video. In History we pushed the desks back, took off our shoes, popped popcorn, and weeded through the research we brought in about the Lost Colony. We are trying to find the answer to the history mystery of the Roanoke Island colony. Each bit of information causes us to have more questions than answers. Are we ever going to get to the bottom of this mystery???

Wacky Wednesday

This morning we did Wordly Wise page thirtysix. Then we started the amazing books Hatchet and Danger on midnight river. We went to terrific art and we made really friendly dragon flies. Then we went to math and we did word problems and started our homework. Crazy Mr.Evans read amazingly fun Lost in a mountain in Maine. The class went to magic magic lunch. We played a amazing history game where we had to only use our sense of touch to identify Native American artifacts. It was very difficult ting to do. Then we went to science and did a super cool science eperanet. Now we are playing sparkle. We are going to go home!

Ohh What a Day

Today we began our day with a nice trip to the library. We learned more about different genres, like MYSTERIES. In music, we had our first test on America the Beautiful. Some of us even memorized all the stanzas. In Math, we did some hard work on problem-solving with addition and subtraction. Our reading groups each did about one chapter in the Gary Paulson books. We had a good lunch and then it was off to recess, where we played a great game of Nation Ball. In science, we learned a lot about different kinds of instruments that help find out about the weather. We even went out to record some data about the weather, which was a great time! In history, we played a review game to help us with our exam tomorrow. Our team was the Buckle People and the other was the MayflowerZZZ. It helped a bunch on what questions we should look at again. In Wordly Wise, we were really talking about Mt Everest and the weather up there at 29,000 feet. Our highest part of VA is only 5,000 feet up. It was very cool day.
